It started out as a simple hobby when, lo and behold, I realized I have just accumulated 20,000 distinct toy characters in my collection... and the number is still growing. This blog is a great space to share to others just how amazing some of these characters are especially the ones that may have been forgotten or perhaps even those deemed insignificant. Visit Percy's World of Toys as often as you can and witness how the list progresses right before your eyes. Enjoy.

2144. Marmaduke
Marmaduke is a newspaper comic strip drawn by Brad Anderson from 1954 to the present day. The strip was created by Anderson, with help from Phil Leeming (1955–1962) and later Dorothy Leeming (1963–1969), and (since August 2, 2004) Paul Anderson. The strip revolves around the Winslow family and their Great Dane, Marmaduke. The strip on Sundays also has a side feature called "Dog Gone Funny", in which one or more panels are devoted to dog anecdotes submitted by the fans. Anderson, who says he draws on Laurel and Hardy routines for his ideas,[1] received the National Cartoonists Society Newspaper Panel Cartoon Award for the strip in 1978. Though not much of a house-hold name in the comic strip industry, Marmaduke became the inspiration of the popular animated Great Dane Scooby-Doo.
In the film version, Owen Wilson is the voice behind Marmaduke, a Great Dane and the main protagonist. He is very huge and tall but loves Debbie's cooking like her waffles and meatballs, and tries to get Phil to listen to Brian and Barbara. He starts having a crush on Jezebel but she thinks they should just be friends and starts dating his new friend, Mazie.
