It started out as a simple hobby when, lo and behold, I realized I have just accumulated 20,000 distinct toy characters in my collection... and the number is still growing. This blog is a great space to share to others just how amazing some of these characters are especially the ones that may have been forgotten or perhaps even those deemed insignificant. Visit Percy's World of Toys as often as you can and witness how the list progresses right before your eyes. Enjoy.

4289. Shoyru
The Shoyru is a small dragon-like Neopet originally created by a user in a "Create-A-Pet" competition run on the site and then released on April 20, 2000. Since that time, their basic design has remained relatively unchanged. The Shoyru's original side profile had created the misconception that they only had a single eye. This was remedied slightly with the introduction of Neopets 2.0 in 2007.
Despite being draconic in appearance, Shoyrus do not have the ability to breathe fire unlike other dragon-inspired Neopets such as Draiks and Scorchios. They are however described as fiery in terms of their personality - being loyal to those that treat them kindly but never forgiving of those that don't.
Shoyrus are fantastic flyers that love to soar through the skies and play hide and seek in the clouds. They are generally friendly pets but do have a mischievous streak to them, especially during the full moon. Shoyrus are tough little Neopets that, with the proper training and care, have the potential to become great warriors.
Shoyrus have the distinction of placing first in Neopet popularity. They comprise roughly 6.2% of all Neopets created. In the Neopets Trading Card Game, Shoyrus are associated with the element of Air.

4116. Blue Usul
The Usul is a squirrel-like neopet that was released on November 15, 1999 as one of the original Neopets on the site. Usuls are loyal and friendly pets who prefer to live in trees. During cold weather, Usuls are the first to share their food with friends. The Usul is the only neopet that is able to be painted Usuki.
Usuls are brave little tree folk who are very loyal to their friends. In cold weather, the Usuls are the first to break open their food stores and share them with their pals.
The Usul, one of the original pets on the site, resembles a large squirrel with a colored ruff and a bow on its tail. The species name possibly comes from a combination of "usagi" (the Japanese word for rabbit) and "squirrel." Usuls prefer to live in trees. They love visitors and are very friendly and brave, making them one of the least self-obsessed neopets.
Usuls have their own series of dolls, the Barbie-like Usukis. (There is also a Quiggle-inspired Quiguki, which was an April Fool's joke that became popular in its own right.) Every year on August 20, the site holds an imaginary event called UsukiCon, which may be a reference to UshiCon. When UsukiCon is held there are often several new releases of Usuki doll sets and Usuki-themed items on the site. Usuls can be "painted" a wide variety of colors, including the color of "Usuki", a color that only the Usuls are available in. When painted Usuki, female Usuls resemble the "Magic Hair Usuki" doll, and males look like one of the male Usuki dolls.
In the Neopets TCG, Usuls are associated with the element of Earth. As of June 2007, they are the 15th most popular pet out of 50+ species, with over 5.7 million created. November 27th is when the Usul Skiing Season Begins (Usul Day).
One of Neopia's most dastardly of creatures, the Shadow Usul, is also a member of this species. The Shadow Usul avatar can only be acquired after having an item stolen by the Shadow Usul through a Random Event.

3299. Orange Jub Jub
The JubJub is a small Neopet reminiscent of a hedgehog. They were one of the original species available from Neopets' launch. The JubJubs' body is a ball of fur with no arms or hands, just a large pair of feet. Their feet have opposable toes, which means they can still manipulate tools.
They are shy, unaggressive creatures who prefer to keep to themselves, but scare very easily. They can defend themselves with a deafening screech, and can curl up into a ball and flee at high speed.
The JubJub was originally called the JibJib, but was renamed "JubJub" on 23 August, 2000. It may be named after the JubJub Bird in the Lewis Carroll poem, Jabberwocky. The JubJub's design - a ball with feet - is similar to the Kiko's design - a ball with arms. There are two colours that only JubJubs and Kikos can be painted - Clay and Garlic. The JubJub is also the only Neopet that can be painted Coconut, where they resemble some members of the Coco people. In the Neopets Trading Card Game, JubJubs are associated with the element of Air.

* It is likely that the Babaa's name is simply a repetition of the onomatopoeia for sheep bleating, baa.
3171. Yellow Nova
Although called a Magic Item, a Nova is considered a Mote due to it's ability to hold all elements of magic within it, and not just a single one as regular Motes (a fact established in Neopets: The Darkest Faerie).
Magical Novas have a different degree of power in each form. They are:
Nova
Supernova
Dark Nova
Ultranova
These Novas can be used in the Battledome. Most are single-use (also known as bombs) and will disappear after being thrown at an opponent. Wands, Staffs, and Rods will create Novas of the corresponding type in the Battledome. For example, a Staff of Dark Nova will produce 2 Dark Novas each round it is used. Rods are considerably more powerful, because in addition to producing three Novas, they will also heal, attack, and defend, and they will not break. There is currently no 'Rod of Ultranova. Due to their relatively high price and low power, only Ultranovas and Rods tend to be used in the Battledome.
There are ten more kinds of Novas that serve as minions for Dr. Sloth: Mecha Novas, Fire Novas, Pulsar Novas, Dark Nova, Light Nova, Friendly Novas, Attack Novas, Mecha Novas, Super Novas, and Ultra Novas. They are featured in the game Nova Defender.
The Scarabnova is unique, because it can be considered both a Nova and a Scarab. It is retired, obtainable only from the Brucey B and the Lucky Coin plot. In the Battledome, it either steals a Nova from the opponent or destroys them all.
The Grey Nova and Christmas Nova have no battle functions.
Trivia:
As of December 2006, Motes are featured in 115 different items.
It is said the Black Cherry Slushie will "...create a taste supernova in your mouth."
The Scarabnova is a Battledome weapon geared against Novas. It may steal a Nova from an opponent, or create a sonic vibration which can cause all of an opponent's Novas to explode.
The word mote means a very small particle (such as dust or sand), and may also be used here in reference to emoticons, a relationship noteworthy due to most Motes having a smile.
A Mote avatar was released on May 23, 2007.
The name of the mote Ree Mote is a play on the word remote, as in a far distance. Likewise, Dee Mote is a play on demote as in depression and Ee Mote is a play on Emote as in emotion.
3168. Yellow Techo
The Techo is a gecko-like Neopet released on June 7, 2000. Techos are agile and are gifted in acrobatics. They are fun-loving Neopets and like to keep others amused with jokes and stunts, and to be the centre of attention at all times. They love to laugh and look on the bright side of life, and prefer users with a wicked sense of humour.
Like their real-world counterparts, they are skilled climbers, although this is because their fingers are like suction cups rather than having setae.
They first appeared in the Neopets Trading Card Game with the release of the Mystery Island expansion, where they are associated with the element of Light.
Techos are one of many different species that exist in Neopia. As a general rule Techos love to be the centre of attention. They are very agile and enjoy making other Neopets giggle by performing acrobatic stunts.

The squat Quiggle, with its big grin and often crossed eyes, is commonly used for comic relief, such as in the Quiguki toys and April Fool's joke; and Old Man Withers of the Altador Plot.
Quiggles will become ill with Neezles if they are fed any cream item. In the Neopets Trading Card Game, they are associated with the element of Water.
