Chombies are one of many different species that exist in Neopia. Chombies naturally come from the prehistoric land of Tyrannia, although many have ventured as far as the Lost Desert and Faerieland.
The Chomby is a shy, plant-eating Limited Edition Neopet reminiscent of an Apatosaurus and a Stegosaurus. Chombies come from Tyrannia, and first appeared on the site when Tyrannia was discovered on 21 March 2001. They were first available to adopt the following day.
The Chomby is a hefty Neopet - a single one can shake the ground on its own. The Maraquan Chomby is a reference to the legend of the Loch Ness Monster. In the Neopets Trading Card Game, they are associated with the element of light.

* As of April 2010, 414,295 (out of 417,800) Chombies have been created, placing them 49th in popularity out of 54 Neopets.
* They are featured in 94 different items.
* Chombies were the first pet with the ability to be the colour 8-bit.
As of April 2010, the cheapest Chomby Morphing Potion is the Green Chomby Morphing Potion, costing 750,000 neopoints. The only other way to obtain a Chomby is to zap in the lab or create on Chomby Day.
