1582. Nico

Nico is a miniature yellow canary, and as Pedro's best friend who also befriends Blu when he comes to Rio. He wears a green bottlecap as a hat.

Nico and Pedro met Blu while the vehicle that Tulio, Linda and Blu were riding, stopped. They talked to him and even thought that the SPF on Blu's beak was "Pigeon Doodoo". They told Blu that they would help him get out of there which leads to Pedro repeatedly hitting his cage but fails to break it. Blu explains and tells them that he's safe and so, they said goodbye as they flew away.
They meet again in a marketplace where Rafael took them to see Luiz but they said that he left. As they meet up, he teases Blu with Jewel which made them take the two macaws to a bird's samba club. He starts to sing "Hot Wings (I wanna party)" together with Pedro. Suddenly, they were attacked by the marmosets and all of them fight the monkeys together. He then sees that Kipo, a Roseate Spoonbill, helps Blu and Jewel escape though some monkeys caught them which leads them having a hard time to escape. He gets his bottlecap and aims it to the first monkey. Fortunately, they escaped by riding a tram and sets off to Luiz's garage.
Meanwhile, Rafael decided to "set the mood" for Blu to confess to Jewel. Nico starts to sing "Fly Love" so he could set the mood while Pedro plays a set of strings as a guitar and Rafael falling off cherry leaves from the trees. Blu blows the moment up by saying the wrong things and being choked by swallowing a leaf.
The group meets with Luiz, a bulldog, and he tries to break the chain by using the groove cutter. Everything goes wrong but in the end, they were released with Luiz' drool. Nico flies with Jewel together with Rafael and Pedro leaving Blu depressed. Blu tried to tell how he truly feels for Jewel instead, he says that he hate samba and made Nico cry. Afterwards, they part ways but Rafael told them to follow Jewel and so they did. All of a sudden, she was captured by Nigel while they go back to Blu and Rafael telling them what happened. They go to the Carnivale to look for her and luckily, they saw her in a weird chicken float. Nigel catches them all including him.
While in the plane, Blu managed to escape and helped the others too. Blu opens the door which leads them to escape and have freedom.
