Primeco Personal Communication is a joint venture of Bell Atlantic and Airtouch, PrimeCo Communications was the first wireless communications provider to turn up the CDMA service on the PCS band in late 1995. Motorola and Lucent Technologies were PtimeCo's original cell tower equipment suppliers. The company served parts of the Midwestern and Southern United States. The headquarters were in the Dallas - Ft. Worth area.

PrimeCo won a number of marketing awards for innovative advertising campaigns, which let it set a new record for the number of subscribers, signing up for service the first year.

Later, three leading operators - Bell Atlantic, Vodafone-Airtouch and PrimeCo - merged into a joint venture, called Verizon Wireless. Due to the FCC regulations, regarding the duplication of frequencies, the PrimeCo territories were split up, with most of the Gulf Coast going into Verizon Wireless, except some of the Houston's frequencies, which were sold to AT&T Wireless; part of the Virginia and North Carolina territories were sold to a small regional provider, with Verizon Wireless keeping the rest; and the Midwest territories split up, with Wisconsin going into Verizon Wireless and the Illinois and Indiana territories, placed into a trust fund. The Illinois-Indiana PrimeCo territories had two unsuccessful bidders before U.S. Cellular, finally, bought them.

After the company was purchased by a group of private investors in 2002, PrimeCo realized it needed an analytics infrastructure that provided executives with key points and a real-time view of the company. In order to solve this question, PrimeCo Personal Communications cooperated with Informatica Corporation (NASDAQ: INFA), the leading provider of business analytics software.

"After an exhaustive search, we judged the Informatica Analytics Delivery Platform to be the best in the industry," said Richard Cane, the Chief Operating Officer of PrimeCo Personal Communications. "The strength of the products' scalability and ease of use, combined with the low total cost of ownership for large-scale deployment, made Informatica a clear winner. Pairing the Informatica Analytics Server with the Informatica Mobile option and with the Informatica PowerCenter data integration platform will help us to fully leverage our enterprise-wide data."
