3616. Russell Stover Candies Bear


Russell Stover Candies is a familiar and beloved name to lovers of chocolate the world over. Currently the largest manufacturer of boxed chocolates in North America, the company's roots are deep in family values and traditions.

In 1923, Russell and Clara Stover began a candy business in their home in Denver, Colorado. The original candy, marketed as "Mrs. Stover's Bungalow Candies," changed about 20 years later to Russell Stover Candies. The Stovers established principles that were successful then and are still carefully followed today. The three principles of quality, service and value allow Russell Stover Candies to remain "Only the Finest."
For 37 years, the Stover family and their partners operated the company. Russell Stover Candies became well known for quality candy sold on a regional level. In 1969, the partnership dissolved and the company was purchased by Mr. Louis Ward. At that time, the company had 35 retail stores and more than 2,000 agencies selling its candies. The company has grown from a quality producer on a regional scale, to an international company, that has sales in all 50 states and Canada. 3615. Big Brainy Baby Abe Lincoln


Lincoln warned the South in his Inaugural Address: "In your hands, my dissatisfied fellow countrymen, and not in mine, is the momentous issue of civil war. The government will not assail you.... You have no oath registered in Heaven to destroy the government, while I shall have the most solemn one to preserve, protect and defend it."

Lincoln thought secession illegal, and was willing to use force to defend Federal law and the Union. When Confederate batteries fired on Fort Sumter and forced its surrender, he called on the states for 75,000 volunteers. Four more slave states joined the Confederacy but four remained within the Union. The Civil War had begun.

The son of a Kentucky frontiersman, Lincoln had to struggle for a living and for learning. Five months before receiving his party's nomination for President, he sketched his life:

"I was born Feb. 12, 1809, in Hardin County, Kentucky. My parents were both born in Virginia, of undistinguished families--second families, perhaps I should say. My mother, who died in my tenth year, was of a family of the name of Hanks.... My father ... removed from Kentucky to ... Indiana, in my eighth year.... It was a wild region, with many bears and other wild animals still in the woods. There I grew up.... Of course when I came of age I did not know much. Still somehow, I could read, write, and cipher ... but that was all."

Lincoln made extraordinary efforts to attain knowledge while working on a farm, splitting rails for fences, and keeping store at New Salem, Illinois. He was a captain in the Black Hawk War, spent eight years in the Illinois legislature, and rode the circuit of courts for many years. His law partner said of him, "His ambition was a little engine that knew no rest."

He married Mary Todd, and they had four boys, only one of whom lived to maturity. In 1858 Lincoln ran against Stephen A. Douglas for Senator. He lost the election, but in debating with Douglas he gained a national reputation that won him the Republican nomination for President in 1860.

As President, he built the Republican Party into a strong national organization. Further, he rallied most of the northern Democrats to the Union cause. On January 1, 1863, he issued the Emancipation Proclamation that declared forever free those slaves within the Confederacy.

Lincoln never let the world forget that the Civil War involved an even larger issue. This he stated most movingly in dedicating the military cemetery at Gettysburg: "that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain--that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom--and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth."

Lincoln won re-election in 1864, as Union military triumphs heralded an end to the war. In his planning for peace, the President was flexible and generous, encouraging Southerners to lay down their arms and join speedily in reunion.

The spirit that guided him was clearly that of his Second Inaugural Address, now inscribed on one wall of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D. C.: "With malice toward none; with charity for all; with firmness in the right, as God gives us to see the right, let us strive on to finish the work we are in; to bind up the nation's wounds.... "

On Good Friday, April 14, 1865, Lincoln was assassinated at Ford's Theatre in Washington by John Wilkes Booth, an actor, who somehow thought he was helping the South. The opposite was the result, for with Lincoln's death, the possibility of peace with magnanimity died.

Big Brainy Babies are marketed in 1998, Big Brainy Babies offered 48 cloth figures made to resemble famous men and women. Each figure depicted the important person as a infant with an oversized head. According to the promotional text, these toys were designed to encourage creativity and a love of learning in the children who played with them. If, however, adult collectors acquired them with an enthusiasm that equaled the Beanie Baby craze of the 1990s, that suited the manufacturer just fine.

Powder the snowman was born on October 3, 1998 just in time to make the necessary preparation for Christmas. Powder is such a funny snow man and thought of the white snow as some sind of a talcum powder. His idol is Frosty the snow man and someday he wants to be just like him and perhaps he could also have that is made just for him too.

Hardee's is a restaurant chain, located mostly in the Southeast and Midwestern regions of the United States. It has evolved through several corporate ownerships since its establishment in 1960. It is currently owned and operated by CKE Restaurants. Along with its sibling restaurant chain, Carl's Jr., Hardee's is the #5 U.S. fast-food restaurant chain after Subway, McDonald's, Burger King and Wendy's. It is headquartered in downtown St. Louis, Missouri.

Hardee's founder, Wilbur Hardee, opened his first restaurant in Greenville, North Carolina, on September 9, 1960. On the strength of its manly menu items, including the Huskee, the chain experienced rapid growth by franchising and, to a lesser extent, by acquiring other restaurant chains. The first company store opened in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, in May 1961 by James Carson Gardner and Leonard Rawls on McDonald St. in downtown Rocky Mount. That location has since been razed.[8] According to Wilbur Hardee, Gardner and Rawls won a controlling share of the company from him in a game of poker. After realizing that he lost control over his namesake company, Hardee sold his remaining shares to them as well. The chain was headquartered in Rocky Mount until 2001.

3612. Bill the duck (2003)


Bill (Ian James Corlett) - A diminutive duck who waddles to a different beat. A very kind-hearted, good-natured fellow who is always there when needed. One of his dreams is to fly. With the help of his friend Dr. Cecil, he tries again and again to fly, and eventually is told that the reason he can't is because ducks became too terrestrial. Bill's main appearance difference, apart from his smallness, is his bow tie which he changes every year at the Ducktown Picnic. Bill lives in an apartment with his pet parrot, Jerry. He's been called a "gator lover" for his rare efforts to turn alligators into allies of Ducktown.

Sitting Ducks is a lithograph created by Michael Bedard in the late 1970s. It depicts a literal interpretation of the idiom "sitting duck". Three ducks are relaxing in the sun on white chairs by the poolside, one looks up and notices two bullet holes in the wall.
Bedard then went on to create an entire series of "Sitting Ducks" related lithographs, which culminated in a children's book and a cartoon series.

Bedard's 1998 book, Sitting Ducks (ISBN 0-399-22847-0) has the plot that alligators hatch ducks in a "duck factory", then send them to Ducktown, where the ducks live an idyllic life, encouraged by billboards to fatten up. The alligators presumably eat the ducks once they are fat. One duck is befriended by an alligator, who lets him know that if only the Ducktown residents wouldn't get fat, they could fly away and avoid being eaten.

In 2001 Sitting Ducks was produced by Creative Capers Entertainment and Kristlin/Elliott Digital. It ran for two seasons and during that time spawned merchandise such as toys, clothing, books, as well as a video game.
The show takes place in a town called Ducktown and focuses on a duck named Bill, and his best friend Aldo, a huge alligator from the neighboring town of Swampwood. Seeing as how ducks are favorite snacks of the alligators there, Bill and Aldo's friendship is rather unusual. The pair usually end up in various situations and adventures.
The show lasted 2 seasons, airing 26 episodes. Reruns are still aired on Qubo.

3610. AOL mascot


AOL Inc. (NYSE: AOL, stylized as "Aol.", previously known as America Online) is an American global Internet services and media company. AOL is headquartered at 770 Broadway in New York. Founded in 1983 as Control Video Corporation, it has franchised its services to companies in several nations around the world or set up international versions of its services. AOL is headquartered in New York City, but has many offices throughout cities in North America, like Atlanta, Baltimore, Beverly Hills, Boston, Chicago, Detroit, Dulles, Mountain View, San Francisco, and Toronto. London and Tokyo are its foreign offices.
AOL is best known for its online software suite, also called AOL, that allowed customers to access the world's largest "walled garden" online community and eventually reach out to the Internet as a whole. At its prime, AOL's membership was over 30 million members worldwide, most of whom accessed the AOL service through the AOL software suite.
In 2000 AOL and Time Warner merged under the name AOL Time Warner. The merger was not fruitful and on May 28, 2009, Time Warner announced that it would spin off AOL into a separate public company. The spinoff occurred on December 9, 2009, ending the eight-year relationship between the two companies.

With regional branches around the world, the former American "goliath among Internet service providers" once had more than 30 million subscribers on several continents. It ranked fourth (behind the Web, e-mail, and graphic user interfaces) in a 2007 USA TODAY retrospective on the 25 events that shaped the first 25 years of the Internet and was named to the ".com 25" by a panel of Silicon Valley influencers on the occasion of the same anniversary.
In January 2000, AOL and Time Warner announced plans to merge. The terms of the deal called for AOL shareholders to own 55% of the new, combined company. The deal closed on January 11, 2001 after receiving regulatory approval from the FTC, the FCC, and the EU's COMP.
AOL Time Warner, Inc., as the company was then called, was led by executives from AOL, SBI, and Time Warner. Gerald Levin, who had served as CEO of Time Warner, was CEO of the new company. Steve Case served as Chairman, J. Michael Kelly (from AOL) was the Chief Financial Officer, Robert W. Pittman (from AOL) and Dick Parsons (from Time Warner) served as Co-Chief Operating Officers. The total value of AOL stock subsequently went from $226 billion to about $20 billion. Similarly, its customer base decreased to 10.1 million subscribers as of November 2007, just narrowly ahead of Comcast and AT&T Yahoo!. As of June 2010, AOL's subscriber base dropped to 4.4 million.

News reports in late 2005 identified companies such as Yahoo!, Microsoft, and Google as candidates for turning AOL into a joint venture; those plans were apparently abandoned when it was revealed on December 20, 2005 that Google would purchase a 5% share of AOL for $1 billion.
AOL was rated both one of the best and worst Internet suppliers in the UK, according to a poll by BBC Watchdog.
On March 31, 1997, the short-lived eWorld was purchased by AOL. The ISP side of AOL UK was bought by The Carphone Warehouse in October 2006 to take advantage of their 100,000 LLU customers which made The Carphone Warehouse the biggest LLU provider in the UK.
The product was rated the "Worst Tech Product of All Time" by PC World in 2006.
On May 28, 2009, Time Warner announced that it would spin AOL off as an independent company once Google's shares ceased at the end of the fiscal year, and AOL's page and logo changed afterward.
AOL ceased to be a part of Time Warner on December 9, 2009. The company declared an IPO on that day, under the stock symbol NYSE:AOL.

The March of Dimes Foundation is a United States nonprofit organization that works to improve the health of mothers and babies.

The March of Dimes is a not-for-profit organization with 501(c) tax-exempt status. The mission of the March of Dimes is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality. The foundation is headquartered in White Plains, NY and has 51 chapters across the U.S., including the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. The March of Dimes provides mothers, pregnant women and women of childbearing age with educational resources on baby health, pregnancy, preconception and new motherhood, as well as supplying information and support to families affected by prematurity, birth defects, or other infant health problems.

The organization began as the National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis. He has created a tradition that kids have to make a trip to other planets by the age of 5 in order to become independent.

3605. Snuffles Jr. the hedgehog


Snuffles Jr. is apparently the offspring of the famous character created by Russ Berrie Toy Company. I've always wondered if the hedgehog is a porcupine before but I guess hedgehogs are a lot less prickly. Snuffles Jr. is a playful hedgehog and very soft and huggable too. He's a very fine addition to my Russ Berrie collection of fine characters.

3604. Dudley Furskin Bear


Dudley Furskin Bear is from the collection/edition that Wendys put out in 1986 around the holidays. Dudley wears the striped overalls but seems to have some shoes missing. Oh well, the kids must have played a lot with this toy and misplaced the shoes. Anyway, Dudley really looks like kindhearted character from the country. He would most probably be willing to deliver all the the apple pies that Hattie Furskin Bear made to their friends and family. Dudley measures approximately 7 inches in height.

Furskins Bears come in many sizes! Furskins were designed by Xavier Roberts (who also designed the Cabbage Patch Kids) and produced by Panosh Place, Original Appalachian Artworks & Coleco from 1983 to the late 80's. There were sixteen small, fuzzy poseable bears, six small plush bears and sixteen large plush bears too. They were all fully dressed, including hat and boots, and there was also separate clothing available plus at least one playset.

Blue Puppy dog has the most unusual color, Blue and the furs's texture is not the typical fur that we find for stuffed animals. The fur is almost like the material used to make face towel. Nonetheless Blue Puppy Dog is very soft to cuddle. Blue Puppy Dog was lovingly produced in 2000 by Animal Alley Alley and the Commonwealth Toy and Novelty Co., Inc.

Ralph Dale Earnhardt, Jr. (born October 10, 1974), better known simply as Dale Earnhardt, Jr., is a professional American race car driver and team owner who drives the #88 Diet Mountain Dew/United States National Guard Chevrolet Impala in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series for Hendrick Motorsports, and drives the Unilever Chevrolet Impala for his own team, JR Motorsports, in the Nationwide Series . He is the son of the late NASCAR Hall of Famer Dale Earnhardt, Sr., and the grandson of both the late NASCAR driver Ralph Earnhardt and Robert Gee, the well known stock car fabricator. Earnhardt, Jr. is also the half-brother of former driver Kerry Earnhardt, the uncle of driver Jeffrey Earnhardt, and the stepson of Earnhardt Ganassi Racing team co-owner Teresa Earnhardt. On September 19th, 2011, Junior Made his first Chase for the Sprint Cup appearance since 2008 at Chicagoland. The First Years Inc. was founded in 1949, in Roxbury, Massachusetts, by Marshall Sidman and his wife Evelyn. Sidman, who was then in his mid-thirties, had served as a Navy ensign during World War II. After his discharge in 1945, he experimented with various careers--including piloting, baking, and selling clothing, tires, stationery, and reupholstering services. But Sidman was not content to sell someone else's products. He wanted a product of his own to promote, and ultimately, he found one--a diaper pin that a friend had developed. As Sidman approached local merchants with his diaper pins, however, he found that they were looking for full product lines rather than individual products. The Sidmans responded by adding baby items from other manufacturers to their product offering--and the company was born. The couple incorporated their business in 1952, as Kiddie Products, Inc.

In 2011, during the three-month period ended February 26, Best Buy saw its revenue and profits slide, but generated a profit of $651 million on revenue of $16.26 billion. In comparison to the same period in 2010, it tallied $16.55 billion in revenue and a $779 million profit.[12]

In 1966, Richard M. Schulze and business partner James Wheeler opened Sound of Music, an audio specialty store, in Saint Paul, Minnesota.[13][14] In 1967, Sound Of Music acquired Kencraft Hi-Fi Company and Bergo Company. Two additional Sound of Music stores were opened near the University of Minnesota and in downtown Minneapolis. The Sound of Music ended its first year with gross sales of $173,000 (USD). In 1969, Sound of Music's stock began trading as publicly-held company, the company enacted its first employee stock option plan, and three stores opened in the Twin Cities area. On June 14, 1981, A tornado hit the Roseville, Minnesota store. Sound of Music responded with a "Tornado Sale," (with the sale promoted as a "Best Buy") and it became an annual event. In 1990, Best Buy eliminated commissions for standalone sales people, but retained bonuses for management and supervisors. In 1992, Best Buy hit the $1 billion mark in annual revenues. In 1994, Best Buy expanded to the Maryland and Virginia markets. In 1997, Best Buy became the first national retailer to sell DVD hardware and software.[citation needed]. In 1998, Best Buy sponsored Stevie Nicks Enchanted Tour. In 2000, Best Buy entered the online retailing business by launching Bestbuy.com, and acquired Magnolia Audio Video, a retailer of high-end consumer electronics.[13] Music compact cassettes were removed from most stores.
In 2001, Best Buy acquired the Canada-based electronics-chain Future Shop Ltd.,[13] which marked the company's entrance to the international marketplace.[14] Though fully owned by Best Buy, Futureshop remains a separate entity operating independently from Best Buy Canada. Best Buy acquired Musicland,[13] a mall-based retailer for music and entertainment software. Best Buy launched Redline Entertainment, an independent music label and action-sports video distributor. In 2002, Brad Anderson succeeded Schulze as Best Buy's CEO. The company acquired Geek Squad, a 24-hour computer support taskforce. The first Canadian Best Buy store opened in Mississauga, Ontario.

Panzz the dog is arguably a poplular dog in Japan who wants to make it in the stand Up Comedy Business. He has this particular fondness of wearing his pants on his head. A most unusual thing to do.
