4319. Whiskers

"Sometime when I jump and play,
I can't stop when you say, 'stay.'
I'm very frisky, this is true,
but I'll never run away from you!"

This copper-coated canine from the Beanie Babies collection is an Airedale terrier with a saddle of gray fur. Whiskers was born on August 6, 2000. Still a small puppy (8 inches from head to tail), something says that Whiskers will grow to be an enormous dog with boundless love and energy. Those slightly perked ears and skyward-pointing tail indicate ever-eager anticipation. Whiskers has shiny black eyes, a broad, bearded, fuzzy muzzle, and an impossibly malleable body.

4316. Monkey the Ty Zodiac Beanie Baby

1944,1956,1968,1980,1992,2004

The Monkey (猴) is the ninth of the 12-year cycle of animals which appear in the Chinese zodiac related to the Chinese calendar. The Year of the Monkey is associated with the earthly branch symbol 申.

Monkeys are fun and loving persons who are always cheerful and energetic. They are very clever. Give a monkey a boring book to read and he'll turn it into a Musical. Better yet, he'll invite everyone to see it free! That's how talented, creative and generous monkeys usually are.
If you go to a party, you'll find Monkeys at the center of attention. Their charm and humor is the key to their popularity. Sociable and diplomatic as they may appear, they can be deceptive sometimes - they hide their opinions of others beneath their friendliness. But they don't hide their emotion. You can probably tell how a monkey is feeling from miles away - he wants everyone to know how happy or depressed he is.

Monkey people are very good at problem-solving. Wherever you are, whoever you may be, if you've got a problem pick up the phone and dial-a-Monkey. Monkeys know how to listen closely and work out solutions at the same time. And because Monkeys' curiosity, they usually have a great thirst for knowledge. Still they have few scruples - they could be unreasonable sometimes, and they have the ability to persuade themselves and everyone around them to believe that they are doing the right things. Some say monkeys are self-centered, some say they are opportunistic, some say they are guileful, but monkeys couldn't care less - because they are also indifferent.

The monkey has a good chance of becoming famous or well-known. Whatever he does, his charm and luck will make him successful. As friends, Monkeys are both loyal and devoted, as lovers, they can be passionate and yet flighty - they can fall easily in love but will get tired of the relationship and look for another.

Most Monkeys have one fetish - FOOD. They are not pigs, they don't stuff themselves with food, instead, they just have this habit of eating snacks whenever they like, and wherever they like. And one last truth about monkey people is, they adore bananas. Go visit your monkey friend's kitchen, I bet you will find some bananas there.

4307. Princess Diana Bear

The beanie baby craze swept the nation in the late 1990s. The pliable, cushy, pellet-filled animals were everywhere. Ty released their first nine beanie babies in 1993. The toys became an overnight success and it was not long before new beanie babies were creating a lot of buzz. The Princess bear was extremely popular, not only among collectors, but upon admirers of Princess Diana as well. The Princess beanie baby was only one of six products allowed by the Princess Diana Memorial Fund. In turn, Ty presented the memorial fund with a check for $2,004,850.00 from its 1997 and 1998 proceeds.

Ty created princess the bear as a memorial to Princess Diana in 1997. The bear was royal purple; a color fitting for a princess. The bear had a purple bow around its neck and a white rose on the left side of its chest. The bear had no birthday, which was unusual. The memorial toy was released on October 29, 1997 and retired April 13, 1999. All proceeds from the sale of Princess were donated to the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fund.

Like all beanie babies, a poem was transcribed inside the Princess ty beanie baby tag. The poem read,

Like an angel, she came
from heaven above
She shared her compassion,
her pain, her love
She only stayed with us long
enough to teach
The world to share,
to give, to reach.

Swing Tag
Swing tags are the heart shaped Ty tags placed through the animal's ear that helps identify legitimate Ty beanie babies from counterfeit versions. The Princess bear has a fourth generation swing tag. Some modifications were made from the third swing tag version including removing the gold trim around the Ty lettering, shrinking the world Ty and adding the words "BEANIE ORIGINAL BABY."

Tush Tag
The tush tag is the tag located on the rear of the animal. Tush tags were used to indicate the factory the toy was produced in and to provide another label for identification of legitimate Ty products. Most importantly, the type of pellet used in the beanie baby is labeled on the tush tag. The princess bear has a sixth generation tush tag that can be used by collectors today to gauge the worth of their bear.

Pellets
Two versions of the Princess bear were created; bears made with PE pellets or PVC pellets. These pellets, or beans, are what give the toys their pliability. Beanies can be molded to take on many forms like lying flat, sitting or posing. PE pellets are made from polyethylene pellets. PVC pellets are considered a higher quality pellet because of the polyvinylchloride from which they are produced. Princess bears stuffed with PVC pellets typically sell for two to three times the value of PE Princess bears on the secondary market.

4276. Paul the walrus

The Walrus' name is Paul. Born on February 23, 1999, his poem reads:

Traveling the ocean in a submarine

Singing and playing a tambourine
One day hoping to lead a band
First he needs to find dry land!

You'll flip for this charming pinniped. Paul has a glossy brown nap coat that gives him a look of being wet--like he has just ambled out of the waves. His four flippers are also brown nap but have thread accents that give them a "real" look. His face has two shiny black eyes, a pink nose, a fuzzy mustache, and two cream fabric tusks. If you already own Ringo the raccoon you must have Paul the walrus. He's perfect for a girl or boy (or you). Surface washable only.

Waddle is all dressed and ready to shuffle over to your house. As his tag reads, he was "the first of two penguins to be made by Ty. He was retired in April of 1998." Waddle's body is black and white with yellow at the throat; short-napped bright orange fabric adorns his beak and feet. This penguin also has plastic eyes and a shell made from 100 percent Tylon, a Ty Inc. exclusive manmade fabric that has the most luxurious feel you'll find on a plush toy. Waddle's insides consist of polyester fiber and PE pellets in a cloth bag. He makes a wonderful toy or addition to a collection.

Birthday: December 19,1995

Waddle the Penguin likes to dress up
Every night he likes his tux
When Waddle walks he never fails
He always trips over his tails!

4097. Luke the black dog

After chewing on your favorite shoes,
Luke gets tired, takes a snooze,
Who wouldn't love a puppy like this?
Give him a hug, he'll give you a kiss.

Luke looks just like a "real" black Labrador puppy. He was born June 15, 1998. He may not come when you call, but he sits up nicely on his haunches and will never run away. Luke wears a handsome black-and-white gingham checked ribbon around his neck. Black button eyes and nose give him his impish expression, and his ears are at constant attention. His ears look like they're trying to catch your every word. This Beanie Baby appeals to both boys and girls. He's a great toy or a welcome addition to your collection.

Her 7th generation hang tag says "You Make Me Blush!"

Rosalie has curly-napped white fur, a large black nose and close set black eyes. She was one of the last of the summer, 1999 Attics to appear on the shelves. She was retired on May 22, 2000.
